Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani directed to stop the tax increase related to the transfer of ownership of real estate of all types.
A statement from Al-Sudani’s office stated that “the increase was issued by the Director General of the General Tax Authority, and he circulated it to the Authority’s branches in the governorates, in an individual measure on his part, contrary to the vision that the Supreme Committee for Tax Reform came out with, as well as contrary to the decision of the Council of Ministers.
The statement pointed out that “the Ministry of Finance, based on the Prime Minister’s directive, formed an investigative committee against those involved in issuing the tax increase decision, and it is now carrying out its work to determine the reasons for this violation, which is not based on the law, and caused a clear state of confusion among citizens.”
