The Popular Mobilization Authority announced, on Friday, the thwarting of an attempt to smuggle a shipment of electrical transformers in Al-Karma district, east of Anbar Governorate .
The Authority stated in a statement that: “A force from the 27th Special Missions Brigade thwarted an attempt to smuggle a shipment of electrical transformers in Al-Karmah district, east of Anbar .”
The statement added, “A force from the intelligence of the 27th Brigade, the 2nd Regiment, Special Missions of the Popular Mobilization Forces, through a tight ambush, was able to thwart an attempt to smuggle a shipment of electrical transformers amounting to (110 transformers) smuggled from Al-Karma District to the capital, Baghdad .”
He pointed out that “the smuggling operation took place using 7 trucks at the Harariyyat checkpoint in Al-Karma district, east of Anbar Governorate .”
The statement continued, “The force took legal and fundamental measures against 7 individuals from the smuggling network, seized the trucks, and handed them over to the relevant authorities.”
