Yesterday , Saturday, the General Traffic Directorate directed vehicle drivers to follow its instructions for safe driving during dust storms, while Nineveh Governorate recorded a traffic accident due to the lack of visibility caused by the dust .
The General Authority of Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring warned of fluctuations in the weather and the occurrence of a dust wave, and advised that the weather is not suitable for land travel in the evening .
The instructions are as follows :
1- While driving during a dust storm, make sure to close the windows and turn on the vehicle’s air conditioning .
2- Make sure that the car’s headlights are working properly to increase visibility .
3- You must reduce your speed and move between lanes calmly .
4- You must be fully focused on the road while driving .
5- Adherence to the speed limits in such bad weather .
6- Keep a safe distance so you can avoid any possible collisions .
7 – Avoid all traffic violations, including driving in the opposite direction, because it exposes you to danger and accidents .
Meanwhile, a local source in western Nineveh confirmed that a dust storm hit the region and caused a lack of visibility during the past hours .
The source said, “A dust storm swept through areas west of Nineveh, including Tal Afar, Al-Baaj, and Sinjar, causing almost complete loss of visibility .”
He explained that a traffic accident was recorded in the village of Umm Al-Shabait, west of Tal Afar district, due to lack of visibility, indicating that the accident resulted in two people being injured .
The source added that the dust storms “were also on the Iraqi-Syrian border, west of Nineveh, in light of the presence of Iraqi forces there .”
In addition to Baghdad and Nineveh, dust rose in the skies of Anbar, Salah al-Din and other areas in the central and western parts of the country.
