Yesterday , Wednesday, the General Traffic Directorate issued directives to owners of old plates, while specifying the amount of the fine for violators .
A statement from the Directorate said, “It was decided to review the owners of vehicles registered under the old registration system before 4/9/2003, the temporary inspection, and the parallel project to the Baghdad Traffic Directorates and the governorates (registration sites) for the purpose of registering them within the national project within a period of two months (60) days from the date of issuance of this statement .”
He added, “Anyone who fails to review will be punished with a fine of two hundred thousand dinars based on the provisions of Article (25/First/Z) of the Traffic Law for vehicles bearing temporary inspection plates, and the vehicle will be impounded until the registration process is completed .”
He pointed out that “a fine of one hundred thousand dinars shall be imposed based on the provisions of Article (25/Second/A) for vehicles bearing old plates before the date of 4/9/2003 and vehicles registered within the parallel project . “
He stressed that “the above penalties will be implemented after the end of the granted period.”
