A parliamentary source revealed that a “Shiite-Sunni-Kurdish” agreement had been reached to pass disputed laws in the Iraqi parliament session scheduled to be held next Sunday .
The source said, “There is a prior agreement between the presidency of the House of Representatives and the parliamentary blocs to approve the politically disputed laws in one session,” indicating that “the presidency of the council decided to include (the proposed law to return properties to their owners, which is a demand of the Kurdish blocs, the proposed personal status law, which is a demand of the Shiite Coordination Framework, and amending the general amnesty law, which is a demand of the Sunni blocs, in next Sunday’s session .”
The source pointed out that “Parliament will vote on these laws in one basket, and if one of the laws is rejected, all the laws will be rejected and postponed to another session .”
According to the media department of the council, the agenda of next Sunday’s session includes “voting on the draft law to return properties to their owners covered by some decisions of the (dissolved) Revolutionary Command Council .”
It also includes, “voting on the draft Personal Status Law No. (188) of 1959, Articles (2, 10), and voting on the draft law amending the second amendment to the General Amnesty Law No. (27) of 2016. ”
The session also includes “completing the first reading of the draft law on intellectual property protection, and completing the first reading of the draft law on civil aviation.”
