International consulting firm Henley & Partners has predicted that the European Union will receive 6,500 millionaires by the end of December, out of the 9,500 global high-net-worth individuals who intend to leave Britain this year .
The company stated in the report, which was issued in cooperation with the wealth information company New World Wealth , that the United Arab Emirates will receive the next largest group of wealthy individuals, followed by the United States .
The report, based on data collected over the past nine months, expects wealth migration in the UK to include 85 millionaires and 10 billionaires, with 68% heading to Europe .
The main reason behind the decision of wealthy Britons to emigrate was the increase in taxes on non-residents next year, according to what the Labour government announced.
