The American Embassy in Baghdad revealed details of a shooting inside the embassy building, which resulted in the injury of an Iraqi woman .
The official spokesman for the embassy said “A report received by the embassy from the Iraqi authorities regarding the injury of an Iraqi citizen as a result of gunfire near its building in the capital, Baghdad, on the evening of July 26. ”
The spokesman added, “The investigation revealed that there was an unintentional shooting by a person inside the embassy compound,” pointing out that “the unfortunate incident is taken by the embassy very seriously and is continuing to investigate it .”
The American Embassy, through its spokesman, expressed its deep concern about the report of the Iraqi citizen’s infection, wishing her a speedy recovery, while confirming that the Iraqi authorities had been informed of the matter and continued close coordination with them .
The head of the Security and Defense Committee in the Iraqi Parliament, Karim Aliwi Al-Muhammadawi , had revealed earlier About forming a joint committee to investigate the injury of an Iraqi woman in the Green Zone by US embassy fire .
Al-Mohammadawi said in a statement, “The American embassy clearly violated human rights after an Iraqi woman was shot while praying .”
Al-Muhammadawi stressed that “this matter is very dangerous and constitutes a violation of the rights of the citizen,” noting that “the Parliamentary Defense Committee will move to stop such violations by forming an investigative committee to investigate this violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and the safety of its citizens.”
