The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced yesterday , Wednesday, that it carried out strikes against a weapons depot in Syria, allegedly linked to groups supported by Iran .

“U.S. Central Command forces are striking Iranian targets in Syria in response to attacks on U.S. personnel on November 12, with strikes against a weapons storage facility and logistics headquarters of an Iranian-backed group , ” CENTCOM said in a statement.

These strikes came in response to a missile attack on American personnel at the Al-Shaddadi base .

The statement indicated that the attack “did not cause any damage to American facilities and there were no casualties among American or partner forces at the time .”

The statement said: “These strikes will degrade the ability of Iran-backed groups to plan and launch future attacks on US and coalition forces in the region .”

Al-Shaddadi base is considered one of the largest illegal American bases in eastern Syria, from which its officers and soldiers manage the trade and export of looted oil to neighboring countries.
