An informed source reported that the Popular Mobilization Forces withdrew from the “Al-Sayyid” area after taking control of it, on Sunday morning, temporarily, to establish security there in preparation for the entry of oil companies to work in an oil well in the area located on the border with the Kurdistan Region .

The source said, “The site controlled by the Popular Mobilization Forces in the village of Al-Sayyid, on the outskirts of Qara Tabba district, northeast of Diyala, includes an oil well and is part of the federal government’s licensing rounds. It is the responsibility of the Popular Mobilization Forces to establish security and comb the area before companies enter to work at the oil site .”

He added, “The Popular Mobilization Forces reconnoitred the area and have now withdrawn, while they will re-deploy and deploy points during the coming period in preparation for the investment of the well by the foreign companies to which it was granted .”

Meanwhile, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan confirmed that the Popular Mobilization Forces withdrew from the borders of the areas of influence of the Peshmerga forces yesterday morning, Sunday, within the borders of the administration of the independent Garmian region of the Kurdistan Region .
