The head of Nineveh Provincial Council, Ahmed Al-Hasoud, revealed a delay in implementing the Mosul Airport project, while he ruled out the possibility of its opening on time at the end of this year.

Al-Hasoud said during his visit to the airport that work on the Mosul Airport project is witnessing a delay in the completion rates, and he indicated that work at this pace will delay its opening on the scheduled date of the twenty-fourth of next December.

He called on the executive authorities to follow up on the work on the project in order to speed up the completion and opening .

Earlier, Nineveh Governor Abdul Qader Al-Dakhil revealed that the work rate in the Mosul Airport project will reach 85% in the coming few days after the arrival and installation of the airport’s navigational equipment, indicating that the current rate of completion in the airport project exceeds 50 %.

In August 2022, former Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi laid the foundation stone for the Mosul Airport project, which the Nineveh administration contracted to implement with a Turkish company specializing in airport works.
