Yesterday , Sunday, Iraq and the United Nations signed the document of the peace and stability project in Sinjar, at a financial cost of up to 3 million dollars .
The Ministry of Planning said in a statement today: The project was sponsored by it and funded by the United Nations, and implemented by 3 UN agencies, namely the United Nations Development Program, the International Organization for Migration, and the United Nations Women .
The statement explained that this project supports stability in Sinjar, and achieving sustainability in the fields of training and development, adding that the project cost (3) million dollars, and includes infrastructure components, components related to training and social cohesion, and achieving stability in Sinjar .
According to the statement, this part of the support is provided by the United Nations in Iraq in light of the crises and current circumstances that the government is working on, for the purpose of rebuilding Sinjar and the areas liberated as a result of the terrorist ISIS gangs and their impact on Iraq .
The statement said that the project was signed on the Iraqi side by Nineveh Governor Abdul Qader Al-Dakhil, and on the United Nations side by the United Nations Development Representative in Iraq, Auke Lootsma, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning for Technical Affairs, Maher Hammad Johan, and the Director General of the International Cooperation Department, Saher Abdul Kadhim .
On August 3, 2014, ISIS elements attacked Sinjar district, west of Nineveh Governorate, killing and wounding a large number of Yazidis, in addition to displacing them and destroying their areas .
