The Ministry of Planning announced that a completion rate of more than 70% has been achieved in a 200-bed maternity hospital project on the left side of Nineveh Governorate .
The Ministry explained, in a statement, “The special committee for following up projects in the Ministry of Planning visited the project to establish a maternity hospital with a capacity of (200) beds with equipment and furniture in Al-Wahda neighborhood on the left side of the city of Mosul in Nineveh Governorate, which is being implemented within the Regional Development Program .”
The statement indicated that “the project includes the establishment of a four-storey maternity hospital, with a total area of approximately (39) thousand square metres, and is being implemented according to the latest international designs. It includes (8) natural birth halls, (8) surgical operating halls, and (2) halls.” For emergency departments, in addition to emergency departments, intensive care, cardiac care, catheterization, radiology, sterilization, forensic medicine, a doctors’ residence hall, laboratories equipped with a modern system for sending laboratory samples electronically, a unit for treating heavy water, an alarm and fire system, an Internet system, and an switchboard.
He added, “The hospital contains green spaces and parking lots, as well as the rest of the hospital’s administrative buildings and services .”
He pointed out that “the project is considered one of the strategic projects, as it will contribute to filling the deficit in maternity and children’s hospitals in the governorate, and provide medical and health services to approximately (400) thousand people from the city of Mosul, where the completion rate in the project reached (71%),” indicating that “it is hoped to be completed during the month of April of next year (2025).”
