The Iraqi Electoral Commission announced the preliminary results of the Kurdistan Regional Parliament elections .

The commission stated that the preliminary results indicate that the Democratic Party will win 40 seats, the National Union will win 23 seats, the New Generation Movement will win 16 seats, the Islamic Union will win 7 seats, the Justice Group will win 3 seats, the People’s Front will win 2 seats, and the Change Movement will win 1 seat .

The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, stressed that holding the elections for the region’s parliament in a peaceful, “safe and civilized” manner is a great victory that is respected by the world .

Barzani congratulated the people of Kurdistan, with all its components, on the completion and success of the Kurdistan Parliament elections, stressing that it was “an important step in the context of strengthening the democratic path of the people of Kurdistan .”

Barzani pointed out that “forming a government capable of enhancing stability, building a stronger economy and achieving more rights is an urgent necessity and a priority at this stage to confront current challenges and build a common future, and achieving this requires enjoying a spirit of cohesion, solidarity and cooperation between all political parties and components .”
