The Nineveh Heritage and Antiquities Inspectorate announced filing a legal complaint with the Iraqi courts against the party that caused the demolition of parts of the ancient Nineveh wall near the Bashtabiya Castle.

The Director of the Nineveh Heritage and Antiquities Inspectorate, Rawid Muwaffaq, said that the Inspectorate filed a lawsuit with the Nineveh Court of Appeal against the party that demolished parts of the ancient wall in Mosul, indicating that the matter is now left to the Iraqi judiciary to hold accountable the party responsible for this work, noting that the destruction of the wall came as a result of the implementation of sewage works on the right side.

Parts of the ancient Nineveh wall were destroyed due to the laying of a sewage pipe as part of the right side sewage project, which sparked widespread anger among the people of Mosul.
