The scores of the second group in the football competition within the Paris 2024 Olympics were scattered after the loss of our Olympic team to its Argentine counterpart (1-3) and Morocco’s loss to Ukraine (1-2 ), as the four teams were equal in number of points with three points before the decisive third round .
The winner and runner-up of each group of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games qualify for the second round. In the event that two or more teams are equal in number of points, the following criteria will be used :
- Total goal difference – the number of goals each team has – points in direct confrontations between equal teams – goal difference in direct confrontations between equal teams – goals scored by each team that is equal with it on points – deduction of fair play points as follows :
Yellow card = -1 / Red card after receiving the second yellow = 3- / Direct red card = -4 / Yellow card + direct red card for the same player = -5 / draw .
The victory of the Olympic team will give it direct qualification to the second round, regardless of the result of the match between Argentina and Ukraine. The same applies to the Moroccan team. In the event of a tie and the victory of Argentina or Ukraine, the Moroccan team will qualify .
If our team draws with Morocco, and the match between Argentina and Ukraine also ends in a draw, the Arab duo will be eliminated from the tournament.
